    Wilkes-Barre is in danger.

I hope and pray the Levee's hold. River crest forecast at 41 feet. Levees are 41 feet high.

The flooding is so bad that we had to postpone the annual aligator hunt for 2 weeks at the Ross Barnett resivoir.

Yes, Luzerne closed at noon today. The mandatory evacuation schedule had been for 8PM but was moved up to 4PM. The Susquehanna River is rising faster than expected. You can still place orders through the online systems, DVI, VisionWeb and Eyefinity, but the lab is closed. If the expected flooding does not occur, we will be back tomorrow, however that decision will be made when we know what the City of Wilkes-Barre requires. Our overarching concern is for our employees and their families. As always, we will do our very best to get your work out to you as quickly as possible while maintaining the quality that you expect and deserve.

Please keep our Luzerne family in your thoughts today.

Today brings good news! The levee system held. The river crested at 39 feet and the lab is ok. We are getting systems back on line and it will be business as usual on Monday.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and patience!

                Great to hear!

The new higher levee system finished 6 years ago seems like a good use of my federal tax dollars.

How are the employees? I hope there was little property damage and no injuries.

I haven't heard yet this morning, but there's a conference call in about 20 minutes...not a bad conference call...a very, very good conference call. More to come!

Well, the lab and our folks in Wilkes Barre are fine. The lab is up and running as usual. The big news is that this week we are installing the necessary software to produce the HOYA iQ lens series IN-HOUSE! Luzerne is the first independent wholesale lab to have this product line. It's built on the Summit lens platform and is compatible with our EVC a/r treatment. Watch for an amazing promotion to run from Oct 1 through Nov 30!
