Question is: "what is the source of this happening?"
When reading all the articles on website Google ratings, I learned that Google is based on reciprocal linking and text, but not on traffic.
I see that the Optiboard has plenty of traffic which expains the Alexa rating, but I am very puzzled about the Google rating.

Hope this helps?.... Google uses software called PigeonRanking. Here's the link. Be forwarned...........they have a sense of humor regarding pigeons when it comes to explaining their software. It gets redundant.
3,170...
To be honest there is too much importance placed in search ratings sure its nice to be up there at the top. The main thing is to make sure you at least hit the first page, most people if looking for certain things will take in the links off at least 2 pages.
Most of the time i will do 4 or 5 as there are often god sites hiding in the lower pages as some people (thats me...) cant be bothered to keep pushing...

Mine hits a masive 60, yours Chris hits 160....

I don't understand Google's rating at all. However there is good news on the Google front. The new forum software is not completely indexable by Google and the other major web site search engines. In the past few days Google's spiders have been on OptiBoard indexing some page. Prior to this there were less than 100 OptiBoard pages in the Google indwex. This morning I checked and there are now 3,140!
I am watching ratings very carefully, mostly out of self interest, I want my site going up. The more the better.
I have noticed that Optiboard has tremendously increased the Alexa rating over the last few month's, on the other hand the Google rating is gone from 5/10 to 0/0. The quick link page has a 2/10.
