Sport Sunglass with High Plus Rx?
Hey guys and gals. I have a tough situation here. I have a nice young man with around +7.00-2.00 OD and +2.50-1.50 OS with 3 prism BO OD/OS who wants a nice sporty pair of Rx sunglasses from riding his bicycle.
Originally, our Rudy Project rep said we could fit it into an insert that clips into one of their wrap frames. Well they called us back and said they can't do it. As the OD I could back off the OD Rx a little since he commonly suppresses that eye. It is his Christmas present and he really wants one. Any ideas or different frames you guys could recommend? Greatly appreciated. |

Ok...
The base out prism should actually make these fairly easy to do. You can back off the OD Rx if you choose but there will still be a noticeable magnification difference between the two. I'd have no problem doing this in one of the Wiley-X frames we have here. No need for an insert, good luck!

Dude, you're missing the obvious!
While I'm not quite the Liberty cheerleader, their newer RecSpecs are quite the bomb for this kind of youngster. http://www.libertysport.com/products_rec.asp |

Assuming the +7.00 is in the 180 meridian (missing axis value) and the 3.00 BO OD/OS is meant to read 3BO OU then, a frame with 4.5mm nasal decentration in the right eye would allow the lens to be mounted in the center of the frame allowing knife edge on both the nasal and temporal edges. If you supply the patients PD and axis I can give a better recommendation for frame sizes.

Adidas
I would reccommend the Adidas Evil Eye Pro Series. They use an insert that is almost round, perfect for your RX (not all models in this series use an insert).
Insert is the best way to get decent cosmetics in a high plus sport glasses, otherwise the edge of the lens will show tremendously. Also with the insert, you can count on the poly non-RX sun lens for protection allowing you to use 1.67 Asherics for the RX correction. Please, please use an aspheric lens for this RX.

Sorry. My memory was off. Here is the Rx. I am not worried about the mag difference since he does great with the Rx in his glasses. OD: +2.75-1.00x145 3^BO OS: +7.00-0.50x070 3^BO |

We carry Wiley X. Which were you thinking. Their given Rx ranges don't come close to this Rx. |

ICE-TECH can do this

You would have a usable area of about 35mm to maybe 40mm but they would be fully compensated and thin, I am guessing about 4.5mm at the thickest point. |
