Palin wants Canada to dismantle Public Health Care, for PROFIT!!!

WASHINGTON — Marg Delahunty has braved the wilds of the American Midwest to come face-to-face with Sarah Palin.

Comedian Mary Walsh’s beloved character button-holed the former Alaska governor at a recent book-signing in Columbus, Ohio, only to be strong-armed away from Palin by a cabal of security guards.

The action was documented on Tuesday night’s “This Hour Has 22 Minutes,” but four days later, Walsh was still marvelling at her close encounter with one of the most controversial politicians on the planet.

“We told her we’re from Canada, and we’re just looking for a few words of encouragement for the Canadian conservatives who have worked so tirelessly to destroy the socialized medicare that we have,” Walsh recalled Tuesday from St. John’s.

“Four huge big burly guys started pushing, and I pushed back, but I got her attention, and she told us to keep the faith, something like that, and said we’re all trying for the same thing.”

After being kicked out of the book-signing, Walsh and her crew then waited outside at a loading dock close to where Palin’s bus was parked. When Palin emerged from the Borders bookstore, Walsh said, Delahunty — dressed in a more toned-down version of her trademark warrior princess costume — called out to her.

“Hey, remember us, we’re the Canadians! We came all the way here from Canada!” Delahunty yelled. “When we asked you that question, we didn’t hear your answer.”

Palin strolled over, looking down on Walsh and her crew to tell them that “Canada needs to dismantle its public health-care system and allow private enterprise to get involved and turn a profit.”

“Basically, she said government should stop doing the work that private enterprise should do,” Walsh said.

In addition to those comments, Walsh said, she found it equally bizarre that no one was allowed to ask Palin any questions at the book-signing.

“It was great fun, but also very strange,” Walsh recalled.

“We’re in a bookstore, at a public event, in a place one would think was a bastion of free speech. And no one was allowed to ask questions. What are they afraid of?”

Notice that she does not talk about making it a better health care system. Notice that she does not talk health at all. She just says PROFIT. That is her goal and that is why she is making up Death Panel lies. She just wants private companies to make a profit, even at the expense of our health

She probly just wants an alternative for when the US government takes over the responsibility of providing free health care to it's citizens. Really! Who wants to pay a 5% tax on a boob job.

This is what we call the taxes needed to pay for Palin's mistakes if she is ever elected president (and no, I am not talking about a part of the female anatomy)

Want to give specifics on what her mistakes would be? Would they be like the ones she made in Alaska?

As for profit tell me again what is wrong with a company making money?

Nothing wrong with it, but when making a profit becomes your goal, you may pay less attention to patient care. Just ask the people at Merck and Phizer what happens when profit supercedes effectiveness. They marketed Bextra for many uses that it was not designed or approved for. But, they could make some money by selling it for these symptoms. Merck was just fined 2.3 billion dollars for the damages that resulted from their scheme. This happens in the big pharm industry every other year or so. Funny thing is, even with patient deaths and 2.3 billion in current fines, they are still making a profit. I guess that makes it OK. I do not believe that the goal of healthcare should be to make money. Canda's system seems to work pretty well. Why change it just because a washed up politician sees dollar signs?

Why would I sacrifice patient care because private companies are not allowed to enter the market and make a profit?

strange can't seem to get an answer on this one
- Her inability to comprehend the tasks facing her
- Her ability to incorporate irrational fear and lies into aspects of politics
- Her "gee gah, I may not know a lot about this, but it just makes me feel uncomfortable so it must be bad" type attitude
- The controversies that have surrounded her

I mean look at the whole death panel argument. Why did she have to lie and scare people like that? What type of sick person does that? And why would you trust someone who lies like that?

Michael Moore is easy, she makes intentially inflammatory statements, and I'm say that from "the other America"

The Homer Simpson reference, well let me just say that when she speaks she makes the proud to be a C student President George W. Bush sound intellegent

exactly. And when we let these politicians get away with lies, we as voters lose credibility. That is why I think it is just as necessary for liberals to bash Michael Moore when he lies, as it is for conservatives to bash Palin when she lies. If we cannot call out our own politicians, then we are not doing our duty as voters!

Because, whether it's a result of inadequate intelligence or insufficient curiosity, she is profoundly ill-informed. Even so, she is attractive to a large number of voters... voters presumably no better informed than is she. But such voters are numerous, and she may become their champion, and ride a great wave of stupidity right into the White House. In other words, "Because she could win!"

Precisely that (the election of an ignoramus to high office) has happened before, not that long ago, and yes, it makes me afraid. I fear that there may not be enough "smart" in this country to outweigh the indignant enthusiam of the dumb, especially when combined with the disaffection of the cynical and politically alienated.

I know... let's hear what some of her fans have to say for themselves:

Why do you think she hasn't faced the same type of tasks on a somewhat smaller scale running the state of Alaska home of the most unsavory politicians out there...
Where is the fear? Who's afraid? I'm afraid the road we as a country going with listening to her.
What lies has she actually produced? Death panels are not by that name in the health care bill, but of end of life conseling is...They do that at the VA and discuss how the VA can save money, but convincing the patient to go home to die(I know this will be misunderstood..I get that).

My favorites points is the controversies around her. What ones do you refer that she hasn't been completely cleared of?

As for the way she speaks or acts. Do any of you speak perfect? How about speaking the way the rest of your state does? How about acting the way you were brought up. Simple and staightforward.

I am going to say that really liked her before, just because is motivating and passionate, but I have read the rest of the story(yes I am reading the book), and now I respect her as a governor, city council woman, wife, mother.

Look at other nations with end of life counselling. They are NOT death panels. That is a major lie created by her to put fears into the hearts of people. A sick, twisted way to try to take something from the plan and make it seem like it is bad. So yes, you are REALLY REALLY misunderstanding the policy. End of life counselling is counselling on long term care facilities, hospice, wills, and ability for family to help take care of their loved ones. It is assistance, not planning for people's deaths.

That alone makes me just so ill I cannot even explain it. How could she do such a thing? It is just a horrible thing that she is doing.

She said several things about Obama on the campaign trail last year that were encouraged fear mongering, like paling around with terrorists.

I do not care if she uses basic language. I care about the fact that she does not learn the information and acts like her instincts are stronger than true facts. I appreciate common language, but I do not appreciate fact-less issues.

and FYI, my closest friend's wife, the friend who I stood up for at his wedding works in end of life care and end of life counselling, and she has NEVER, EVER killed anyone. And for Palin to insinuate that is nothing more than a kick in the face of our health care workers who bust their butts for our family members
