Confused Looking for a Lab that can make a 20mm lens

Our optical shop is looking for a lab that can make a +13.50 20mm round lens with AR. None of our supply labs are able to do this. It is a lens for an inspection loupe and can only be 2mm thick. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get a +13.00 or +14.00 from a trial lens set, add A.R.

Full aperature is 35mm in diameter and over 2.0mm, I would try a non-full aperature which should be 20-25mm and handstone any excess.

PS, Your lab has to do nothing more then surface the lens down to a 23mm diameter and clean the bevel on the handstone, edging is not required.

Good Luck

EDIT: Even Cr-39 will get you there.

most labs only do a 50mm small lens as this is the size of buttons and chuck size

The only way I can think of is to take it down as far as possible on the generator and then finish the job on a sphere polisher. It would probably need to be a glass lens for this to work though.

There are commercial optical labs that produce such lenses for microscopes, binoculars, etc that could do that.

As an old time AO person, I was wondering if it was some of them.

The trial lens idea is wonderful! We have used Bristow in Tuscon for lenses with very small B's. I still don't get what the prob is. When I worked in an edging lab I would modify blockers all the time, and hand bevel. The labs you use seem lazy!
