    Now is not the time

Now is not the time to stop developing alternative energy sources. Just because fuel prices have decreased, we can't stop.

Maybe we can burn Miller Lite instead of gasoline.

Economically Viable, that's what gets us into trouble with gas at less than $2.00 a gallon it isn't economically viable to do anything but stay addicted. We need to look into ways to break the addiction from oil period for the time being the cost is low, but we know from history that it will and does rise, so since drilling will take time I say start the process now and hold it in reserves while the price is low. Concurrently we should be investing in ALTERNATIVE not economically viable sources, preferably renewable sources that are home grown. Then when oil goes up again we should have enough of a reserve to keep the spike in price from rocking our economy while making it economically viable to implement the alternative structure to switch. Of course these are just my opinions, but I could care less if I pump gas, oil, grain, or farts into my car A to B is my main concern and it would be nice to not pay $4-5 bucks a gallon to do it unless of course those $4-5 bucks a gallon gets me triple the mileage.

So, I will again change the premise:

I agree 100%. I should point out to the haters that new jobs are being created here with biofuels and windfarms.

There could be many thousands of new jobs created in alternative energy research and development, but what will happen if oil is ever really threatened? Those who control the world economy could and will bankrupt our country.

The powers that be ARE in the private sector.

If there was someone dumping toxic waste near your home, and it was making your family sick, would you only clean it up or move if it was economically viable? If someone threatened your family with harm, would you buy the best weapon to protect yourself, or just get one that was economically viable?

Please consider the ramifications of using declining farmland to produce fuel for cars and trucks, primarily in wealthier nations, instead of food.

That was an intriguing talk. At times I thought I was listening to the Art Bell show, but he had the names and dates to back it all up...

I read the book too, I gotta tell you that I am not real happy about it. Everything he says makes perfect sense and really adds up. I have read similar stories over the years but this one takes the cake.

I am suprised that noone has responded to that thread I started. Either noone took the time to watch the video, or noone cares. I am a member of a motorcycle forum where there are about 100 pages to the same thread.

I believe that we need a floating gas tax that results in a bottom cap at the pump somewhere in the $3.50 to $5.00 range, phased in with economic recovery, allowing alternative energy suppliers (and American auto companies!) a stable and profitable market.

I recently watched a news segment on how a biological research company found a way to make oil from algae. It was really cool because the algae consumes C02 and would clean the air as it grows. The oil is the waste it creates It was a great segment that made my heart very, very happy!:D

    Just wanted you to know.
I was watching a Planet Green episode. If you recycle plastic bottles, remove the caps and put them in the bin separately. Some bottle caps are recyclable, some are not. And if you have the caps on, frequently they are just sorted out and tossed. They don't stop to remove the cap, they trash it!
Wasted time of recycling for us.
