    Do You ever

Do you ever find yourself being ultra critical of other peoples work and excusing the same flaws in your own? It's a habit I am trying to break.
Often I find a prosthetic eye that someone else made with lots of flaws in the surface or other areas and say: Don't they realize this is horrible.
But then when I see one of mine for a follow-up and find a tiny machine mark that I should have smoothed out an polished I tell myself that it doesn't matter, or anyone could have overlooked that (I do fix it when I find it.
With Glasses I find stuff that I could have done better or should have caught, same excuses.
Not too bad about this sort of thing with contacts but even then something slips by even though I call myself inspecting every lens before calling the patient.
I would say I'm getting old but I would say I'm better about this as I grow older.

It is difficult being a legend in your own mind. Just remember to count yourself occasionally . . . you ain't that many.

I'm not too hard on myself. If I'm too critical of my own work, it's hard to maintain the obscene level of self-confidence I possess. If I drop down to a mere healthly level of self-confidence, then my leadership skills diminish.
The first step in being a leader is making sure that people are drunk on your self-confidence. If you believe, you can achieve!!*

I don't try to be critical. I just point out the facts. If the problem is obscure then I explain that their situation is "outsice of the norm" and proceed to fo into technical data.

You can't be too self-assured, considering that the patient may not understand the information they are given. All you can do is explain the process in verification to the best of your abilities.

    When one becomes:

The Man, The Myth, The Legend.....

It is very hard not to be too critical of mere mortals!

Seriously, I am as guilty, as most in this. I tend to be too critical of my own work, habits, and conduct. This leads me to see and point out other peoples "flaws" all too easy. What I am really dealing with are my own shortcomings, that I see in others!

I am really working on being more tolerant of others and trying to improve myself. But, perfection is hard to beat!

This morning It ocurred to me you might be blond or this could be a blond joke. Perhaps once being blond (before being bald and gray) myself I was too dense to recognise this.

Thanks, it's from the Alan Parsons song, "Call Of The Wild" featuring Maire Brennan of the Irish group Clannad on lead vocals.

Well I’ve talked to the wind and I’ve listened to rain
I have climbed to the clouds and I’ve cried out with pain
This life is for living so come to my side
And open your heart * to the call of the wild

We are all of one nation, all of one creed
We are all out of nature, all of one seed
We are in this together, man, woman and child
So open your heart to the call of the wild

We talk the same language in different tongues
    We’re somebody’s daughters and somebody’s sons
But those who believe we are head of the chain
May wake up to find we are all that remain

There is no need to fear what we don’t understand
For we breathe the same air and we walk the same land
The strong and the anxious, the meek and the mild
All dance to the drum¡* that’s the call of the wild
