I assume you mean the flagpole and flag. My son did one of these for the library for an Eagle Scout project. It was to go in front of the Scout House at the church until some dingbat came up with the concept that this would be a violation of "Church and State" whatever that is.
Now as to boyhood wishes: I have always wanted to go up a mountian (I had Lookout Mt. in mind) with a $100.00+ of balsa gliders and watch them drift down into the Valley's.

"Church and State"? I thought the "American" flag stood for ALL state's, more then one. So how could it of been a violation of church and state.
That "dingbat" should of been staked out with nothing but a loin cloth on in the sun for a day or two.
Shoot the churches I went to always had the American flag and the State flag right up front on the stage with everyone and everything else
Very nice Harry! The rest of you...StFU!
Very Nice!!

Still on the bucket list... That Red Rider BB gun.... Harry, very cool! Fly'r Proud!
CC: In a very miss-guided decision the US Supreme Court decided that the church could participate in nothing of a state or political nature. Hense amoung other things, group prayer is not allowed at football games, in schools, etc. Now one cannot even mention God, any religion, or even atheism at VA hospitals. I do kinda wonder what all those chaplins do, but I digress.
The US Constitution forbids the government from establishing a state religion. The US Supreme (not supreme to my mind any longer if it ever was) has taken a position that this appearently forbids any contact between religion, the religious, and any government agency, building or government supported institution.
Some indivuals take this to mean a government sybol on church grounds (this church still has US, State and Christian flags inside the church) would somehow insinuate a bond between church and state.
If there is hope it lies in the proles.
Dear Chip,
For crying out loud, This is NOT A POLITICAL THREAD! Every summer from when I can remember till I was 15 my Grandfather and I would go out and raise the flag every morning it wasn't raining. I have pleasant memories of this practice and have always wanted a flag pole so I could do the same thing with my grandchildren (actually children too!) It has nothing to do with politics, I promise!
Please do your friend a favor and knock it off!
PS to Cat- How dare you call these nitwit's nitwits! If they persist, I WILL edit, and close if necessary. I don't care who complains.

I think it's lovely. My Nana and Pop-Pop had one out in their front yard and it was a great source of pride for them. I remember every Mother's Day my Dad and I would get up early and plant marigolds around the flagpole. I hope yours brings you as much joy :)
I've been laid up these past few days but this morning, for the first time, I raised the flag. I wan't you to bear in mind, that at sunrise, there was absolutely NO WIND...zero.......zip......NADA! I always called my grandfather DD (started before I can remember). As I clipped the flag to the halyard I thought of him. As I raised the flag I said out loud (the neighbors think I'm nuts anyway!) "DD, this one's for you!" I took a couple of steps back, and from out of nowhere came a gust of wind which blew the flag out straight. I got the message! The wind then died again and remains calm as I write.

Congrats and congrats on having the time to properly take care of it.
I love it!!
every morning our neighbor raises the flag. Out 2 dogs are out there waiting for "flag raising ceremony" and at the end, they get their morning treat's from our neighbor. This has been our tradition for over 8 years. And yes, we buy ther treats.
I came, I saw, I left

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
I would LOVE to have a ground mounted flag pole. Best I can do is the house mounted flag pole. Congrats on being able to do this. What a glorious display!
Looks great Harry!

Is it cloth or nylon? I'm told the nylon flags while more durable tend to be more noisy in strong wind.
As I recall many dry cleaners will clean the red white and blue free.
I've collected flags since I was 10 years old. I'm a bunting man and always will be!
