Where do most eye wear brands manufacturer their frames in China?

    Hello,

My name is Jim and I am a optician in the West LA area. I want to private label my own line of eye wear and sell them at my store.

I am having a difficult time as to locating a reputable manufacturer in China. I was thinking of Italy but feel with the exchange rate would be too high in frame costs. I want to offer the frames for a reasonable price (<$150) with basic poly or cr-39 lenses.

Can someone please PM me where the other brands manufacturer their frames?

ANY leads would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

just do a search and find the largest population of kids near an industrial area of china and that should be a good start, they like to keep the factories close to their employees.

I actually read through previous threads where other "members" were actually helpful.

I guess EVERY question on Optiboard can just be answered by a Google search.

I do not disagree that made in the USA would be better but where is an spectacle manufacturer that utilizes all American made parts and labor? I have read through the previous threads and each company that was brought up as a USA only company ended up using Chinese parts!

I have had the same issue with toys for my kids. After the lead scare, I went to the local toy chain and found not one toy made in the USA. No joke. I did find one that had a USA flag on the label and stated "American Pride" but on closer inspection it said "made in China." I now buy most of the toys from a local wood shop.

If you could guide me to an American manufacturer I would be more than happy to take a look. Truly happy.

Please let me know. I not being sarcastic by any means.

    Thanks.

I could not be happier! I keep coming back to Shuron because I am delighted that even now, in present day, these fabulous retro frames are still being made of high-quality components right here in the USA by fellow Americans.

its too bad people that live in the USA that have things made in other countries and the people that live here and recomend other contries to have things made dont get deported to those countries...its pathetic to think that someone would prefer to support other contries economies and just crap on our own country, so much for loyalty. If things continue this way it will begin to effect more than just our economy, when our country doesnt have enough money we cant pay for unimportant things like weapons and soldiers to keep people from invading us (and dont think it wont or cant happen either). And dont forget about the food on your table, farmers cant make a living if there is no money in the US to buy food, so they sell the farms, and everyone relies on china for food, how many people do you suppose will be homeless in the next 10 years? how many people in china do you think will be buying new homes (well apartments), what would you say to 1 person in china buying a home for every 3 americans that become homeless? and dont come with the whole 1 person going to china to have something made wont make a difference, remember, it all started with 1 person going to china in the first place. this whole thread makes me sick, its disgusting, i guess july 4th is just a day for fireworks, and backyard bbq's now, and no deeper meaning than that.

Been to some of the reputable plants in China, they probabally won't take your order unless it is huge. One owner showed me one of the models from a very well konw Italian company (I am not sure "where it will be made"), they ordered 50,000 pieces for the same model. the manufacture will take 600 for one model but they tend to like large orders. I am in the process of starting my own line of rimless frame have lab technician and optician in mind ( been drilling lenses for a while and really don't like some frames, including big names).

Have been to some of the reputable manufactures in China, one owner showed me one frame from a well konw Italian manufacture being made there( not sure " where it will be made "), they ordered 50,000 piece for that model alone. Manufactures will take 600 piece for one model but they like to have large orders, they are also fully booked for a while.

600 frames for an initial order is huge. It seems as though 200 to 300 is the usual no?

The last time that I looked into this I was quoted:

    600 pieces per style
    300 per color

There may be some private label options that offer less volume, but I never found one. The few that offered much lower volume did not work out price wise for what you are looking for.
