While updating my optical website listing.............checking the Alexa ratings, which have dropped considerably for most websites across the board over the last 2 month.
I came across one site which shows a tremendous Alexa traffic increase. It seems that such an increase is very interesting, there must be a sudden large increase of traffic to that site. Optiboard has an Alexa rating of 67,375 as of today......the other site is at 77,653 only 10,000 points less traffic. Obviously the amount of postings should not increase the traffic ratings. This an interesting case to look at.
As it is a forum site one can check the post's which did not seem to have to show any increase, (some 3000 over the last few years) however the membership which was at about 80 has increased during March 2007 to over 300. None of the new members show any postings, but all have websites that are non optical, such Viagra, Cialis and others.
Question:.....................
Is this new membership base in that forum website being used as a reciprocal link exchange site (instead of using a special page for that purpose) and the webcrawlers sent through that site count as traffic points, influencing the Alexa results ???? Some of those websites are high ranking and will be crawled more often.
It would be interesting to hear if anybody has any idea why this unlogical count is there. :hammer:
