I have a patient who has been wearing cosmolite ST-28. Rx around +7.00 and ballance. The patient has just recieved a horrible thick pair of CR-39 glasses from the VA. Patient report that this is the best he has seen out of either eye in years. The cosmolite lenses are 9 years old, the new glasses have only minimal change in Rx. Old glasses are badly scratched.
Patient wants me to make him a new pair of glasses in socially acceptable frames and thin lenses. My question: Would he be seeing better with new CR39's due to some inherent optical quality or just due to new unscratched surfaces? Don't want to make him something he sees worse than those VA glasses but don't want to use higher indexes if it will compromise vision.
