Where does YOUR Aunt Jemimah bottle reside? This has been a long time source of disagreement at our house (needless to say, Aunt J has made many trips from the cupboard to the fridge and back- she's getting a bit tired out).
In the fridge, of course! Syrup is supposed to be kept cool!
In the cupboard, naturally- why put something cold on hot pancakes?

That its pancake day tommorrow 12-2-02.... Yippiee lovly pancakes with lashings of sugar and lemon juice on.:bbg: and never one stuck to the ceiling yet...
Do you yanks ever toss a pancake......
and what the hell is Aunt Jemimah's bottle.............
The maple syrup, the REAL stuff, goes in the 'fridge, otherwise it gets kinda fuzzy....any way, that's why God invented microwaves....HOT maple syrup!
....so I couldn't vote. The regular old Aunt Jemimah (although we use Mrs. Butterworth's) so full of preservatives and all goes in the pantry. The pure maple syrup goes in the refrigerator. But of course I warm it up before I put it on all my dear ones pancakes.
BTW, does it strike anyone that Aunt Jemimah as a brand is not politically correct?
Ours is in the cupboard. I have never heard of refridgerating it.
Anyone ever had Oatmeal Pancakes?
I wonder how much marital discord this one little poll may ultimately cause?
I go to Vermont every now and then to do some snowmobiling and bring home the REAL stuff from time to time......so i voted for the fridge.
Always been and always will be in the cabinet for me! I have never, except for the occassional restaurant, had syrup heated!
Oatmeal pancakes, yum. Oatmeal and banana-YUMMY!:D

Mostly mine is kept in the fridge. Why?? Can't handle the sticky stuff in the cabinet. I keep honey in the fridge too. Of course my husband really doesn't care as long as it is there. I hate maple syrup but what I really like is good old Karo syrup on waffles. I have never had oatmeal pancakes. Is this something I need to experience? I am not much of a pancake eater anyway. We usually have egg burritos for breakfast on the weekends and the rest of the week we have cereal. We are not home in the mornings together except on the weekends. Of course I am also the person who thinks pouring syrup over sausage is disgusting. Also remember I am the same person who likes scrapple!! LOL!!

Okay, where's the recipe for oatmeal pancakes? Oatmeal is my husband's favorite cookie so I bet it love them.

Aunt Jemimah is a popular syrup brand here in the States which comes in a distinctive bottle (click on link below to see it...).What the hell is Aunt Jemimah's bottle.............

Anyway, for those of you who keep your syrup in the cupboard, blech! Everyone should know that syrup belongs in the fridge (right next to the ketchup and jelly). My grandma kept it there, my mom keeps it there, so that must be where it goes (it doesn't get much more scientific than that, folks)! So, keep your warm, blechy syrup! I will happily pour my chilly syrup over stacks of steaming, buttered flapjacks surrounded by eggs done "over easy," sausage links, and jelly smeared toast with OJ AND whole milk! (Excuse me while I run out to Denny's... now I'm hungry!)
PS- I would also like to start soliciting applicants for my donor heart for when mine tires of pumping cholesterol-laden sludgy blood through my hardened arteries...

I looked on my bottle, didn't see a recommendation for where to put it or and experation date. Guess it doesn't matter?
GUESS IT DOESN'T MATTER!?!?!?!? Of COURSE it matters- everything matters! There is a right way and a wrong way to do everything, and my way is ALWAYS the right way... why can't everyone else in the world just realize that and do everything the way I want!Guess it doesn't matter?
:D
Heh, heh... well, as Metallica says "Forever trust in who you are- and nothing else matters..." Or, as St. Augustine said "sub specie aeternum" (all things in light of eternity). I suppose in the grand scope of things, it doesn't really matter where the syrup is kept, but that doesn't change the fact that it just BELONGS in the fridge! (Harumph, I will dutifully go back to sulking, as I see I am in the minority view once again...)

Calm yourself, Pete. Judy got it precisely correct. You started down the path of Error by selecting the wrong syrup, not the wrong storage method.
Civilized behaviour in this regard clearly consists of the following:
1. Use only maple syrup produced in Vermont (unless you make it yourself);
2. Heat syrup before use;
3. Keep unused portion refrigerated.
Of course there were no instructions on Ruthie's bottle - you're not supposed to use that stuff!
Pancake Tuesday! You havent tasted a pancake until youve had one Irish style.
You should have seen the look of glee on HarryJ's Wife when he said- No more butter for me for life,:bbg: That was after he had just eaten one!
Is that with a side of corned beef, and a pint of half & half?
Some things should just be done because that is the way they always have been done! (Gee, you can't tell I'm getting up in years, can you?)
Just like we still have splits in the back of sports coats (the original reason was because when you rode a horse you had to have a split to keep from ruining the jacket).
Syrup belongs in the fridge! Not on a shelf, not in a cupboard, not in the pantry, not in the cellar... Its supposed to sit in the blessed fridge and leave that little sticky circle that exists year after year as an enduring testament and memorial to the pre-ordained spot for the syrup! (You know, come to think of it, you are probably right... my grandma and mother both DO use "real" syrup, so- hey! That's not the point!)
This whole issue has woken me to the terrible loss of tradition from generation to generation. Just to ensure that my children carry on the legacy of putting the syrup in the fridge, I shall make them learn the following Catechism of Syrupendipity
Where does it go?
Where it is cold.
Why put it there?
Because we've been told.
And if you don't?
Father will scold!
But if you do?
Halos of gold.
I hear them coming to take me away to my quiet, secluded, padded little white cell now, so I'll have to catch y'all later...

No expiration date... What's that stuff made of?
I agree with #1................there is nothing better then AAA Vermont maple syrup. It's hands down the best that there is. On #2 i'll take it either way hot or cold :). And #3 it's a must if you have the "REAL" stuff.Originally posted by shanbaum

We keep ours on the shelf at our grocery store - at least I guess that's where we keep it. It seems like everytime we decide to have pancakes, I need to run the the store because we are out of syrup.
Bill
PS Maybe there is a connection between our missing syrup and all of our half pairs of socks ???
Pete, Pete, Pete!!!! C'mon we both know the syrup belongs in the fridge but dear God!!! This subject is nearly as contraversial as the apprentice vs the formally trained optician. LOL!! YIKES we all really need to get a hobby...oh yea this IS my hobby!!! LOL!!
