how does everyone deal with pushy sales reps?
love the line, hate the rep...what to do?
and the 2:1 returns, heck some of them are 3:1

Find a different line. No name is worth dealing with crap like that. You can find similar stuff somewhere elsewhere, without the hastle.

It doesn't matter how much you like a line you don't need the headache of a pushy rep. The rep and the line gotta go. I won't even look at an account if they don't do a 1:1 return.
I wouldn't and do not deal with any reps who are pushy (well one but we are used to her) or who will not exchange (we try not to do that overly much). Some lines we just buy out of the catalog and what we buy we keep. If you are in love with a line but not with the rep find another line that is similar because you always can. Not much is all that unique anymore.
I let all reps know before we do business we'll never have a problem as long as the the frames on my boards don't stay longer than six months and an order isn't padded. When we do have a return it is dollar for dollar not per piece. If the rep cannot agree to that then I won't work with them. My Prada rep pulled this 2 for 1 return stuff so I kicked her out. The Gucci rep and I butted heads on the six month part so I traded her board space out and told her I don't need nor do I want her line. Quite frankly I haven't missed any sales with them not being here. Lots of other product to choose from.
Gotta agree with everyone here...let the rep and line go...to many others that are ready and willing to work with you! :)

What do you guys think about you lens rep,
form you lab or stock house??? If you have one
Can't agree with all the sentiments here as reps are also trying to make a living like all of us. As the economic climate maintains uncertainty we are all guilty of provoking the next guy to part with their dollars in order to pay our bills. I've been in more uncomfortable situations with reps giving pity orders than I care to admit. It took me several years before reaiizing this wasn't in my or their long term best interest and put a stop to it just a few years ago. Most reps I've come across lately are appreciative of honesty that doesn't waste their time or yours.
My customers have also been some of my best teachers.....
Their actions and comments offer some of the best learning tools that can be applied to purchasing.
I think JLO from Safilo is a nice little teen girl line, but the new rep drove me insane. Kicked her out, told her to never come back. When I want to exchange things, I call the reps boss, tell him what I am returning, what I want to order and he faxes me the forms. It can be done.
