ANyone had any experience with the power lens from Walman Optical. (http://www.walmanoptical.com/files/W...20Brochure.pdf)
How does their Sentinal coating rank in comparison to Crizal, Zeiss, Shamir or Unity?

They appear to be IOT designs. They even use the same graphic as the IOT website for their indoor lenses. Although it looks like they were so lazy that they just copy and pasted a low res .jpg version of it.
Their sentinel is not an essilor AR it is the one they adopted from that lab from the midwest, I forget the name. Toledo Optical maybe?
That would make sense .................

Power Lens by Walman focus heavily on digital lens designs and digital processing. Power Plus lenses are customized for the sharpest vision. Power lenses maximize your comfort and productivity. The backside compensated lens allows for comfortable vision during long periods in the intermediate zone.
I've asked and Sentinel is a UV cured coat, for what it's worth.

Then this would be a backside spin coat. If their hydro recipe is similar to ours, then no worries. The hydro we use on our Sentinel is so slick that we have to extra precautions to insure that there is no twisting during edging. Our test lenses after 7 months still clean easily and resists even the Stadtler Lumocolor marker. The ink still rubs right off with a dry cloth.
Crizal, Zeiss Duravision/Teflon, Hoya EX3 and others are all thermal cured dip coats, and will generally last longer than spin coats - to answer your "How does their Sentinal coating rank in comparison to Crizal, Zeiss, Shamir or Unity?" However, the actual AR stack itself, IMO is better than most ARs on the market.
I thought Easy, Alize and even Avance were UV cured... Sapphire (which I'm wearing right now) and Prevencia are thermal cured. Then again, how much does the curing process even mean anymore.
Tough to keep this all straight.

Good to know! Now what are the actual differences between the five sibling ARs? Marketing budget?
cs
Easy is of course standard, Alize extra hydro/oleophobic, Avance anti-static and additional "SRC booster" layers for better scratch resistance. Sapphire is supposedly a very different alternative stack to produce the lowest reflectance and the blueish color, but otherwise is marketed with the same properties as Avance. Prevencia is supposed to be Avance with the blue-light reflecting layer added, though in my experience it definitely is harder to clean than Avance. Xperio is simply TD2 only frontside, Alize backside.
I currently use their office version (Power thru 13) for an office use lens. Working well
I have only used the Power Lite and Power PALs a few times, but no complaints thus far.

I heard recently that they *used* to use IOT lenses and have now switched to something else. My Walman rep didn't know off the top of her head what it was. Since they can't offer it in 1.67 Transitions, I've been trying to figure out what else I can offer my patients with similar performance to the Power Lite PAL and Power PAL. Anybody know what lens it now is, or is most like?
Walman was bought out by Essilor last year. Ditch them. Especially I'd the rep can even tell you what lens design they are using. Plenty of other labs out there that can offer IOT lenses.
