    Question For wheeler-dealers only

I'm interested in regularly purchasing close-outs and selling them on my "clearance board" for a bargain, thereby reducing my inventory cost and offering a better selection of cheap-o (but good style and quality, of course) frames.

The question: I've never done this. Who do you contact to get close outs? I would want only "the good stuff". Do reps get first dibs on closeouts? Can you talk to someone at the company? Help, please!

drk, I believe that most all reps carry "close-outs", just let them know that you are interested, I don't think you'll have any problem at all...

    drk,

I know that Tura sometimes has what they call "grab bags" these are closeouts, I have participated in this "grab bag" closeout promotion before, as well as other vendors. Just a small word of advice, when participating in such a program, alot of times you don't get to choose or select your pieces, this is exactly what happened with the Tura "grab bag" I got some really nice frames, good quality, but some of them where just down right ugly. So now... I have all the "ugly" frames left and the good ones are gone. I cannot complain that I sold them, that's great! But now I am stuck with some non-returnable ugly frames. Just a heads up there. Good luck! :D

Most frame companies that I deal with always have close-outs. Reps usually don't mention them unless you ask. Most will provide you with a list of sizes and colors that are available, others use the grab-bag approach. As far as the ugly ones in the grab-bag just price them right and you'll eventually get rid of them. In my area there are several frame brokers that purchase large quantities of closeouts and resell them. Terry

Having been a frame importer and wholesaler for over 20 years, some time ago I can give you the following tip:

Every frame companiy has leftovers, deadbeats and outmoded models. Most probably even more so these day's where manufacturers change models more often.

You are actually doing a favour to your frame reps who are always on the lookout to get rid of these frames. However as frame reps work mostly on a commission basis they are more interested in selling frames at full price and will not offer so called "joblots" without being pushed to it. Commission on reduced price items is also reduced. You will have to ask for discontinued frames.
