    Modo

Any scuttlebutt about how Modo is doing financially? A previous poster noted that their website is not updated, and I know from my rep that they've cut their customer service staff. I'm not sure I want to go forward with them. Any input is appreciated.

I wouldn't go forward with them if they did have it together... but that is an opinion.

I have my doubts about them too right now. I posted that their website has not been updated and that I haven't seen a rep in a year. The thing is I always liked the product and it sold quite well. To bad for them.

Well, they did debut some new additions to the Phat Farm and Baby Phat collections at VEE. That should mean something.

We ended up dropping their line; we just weren't happy with their customer service.

I like the Modo line, they have a truely unique product, but have found the company to be peculiar since I started dealing with them 10 years ago.

Biggest problem is their sales force, their territories are way to big to properly manage. And the product gets discontinued very quickly, so you have return battles when you get close-out credits on product you bought full price.

If I could have any frame rep job, I would want it to be Modo, as the product really is unique but reasonably priced. Just with a smaller territory.

    HARRY!

    Buy them as Closeouts.
    They as good as current!
If you worry about replacements buy 6 of them for the price of one.

I think the general consensus is that Modo is not exactly a company on the rise.

I like them for young, cutting edge styles, especially metals. I think they're a good deal. You seem to be able to get titanium for relatively cheap, possibly becasue it's very basic in it's design-no etching anymore, etc. Never cared for their plastics.

They're on my possible to drop list. And I concur that their customer service is dreadful, especially "the guy" that's responsible for returns. My rep is great, though.

I have a terriffic Rep too But they do seem to have difficulty with the main office. She has been with the company years, and can get stuff done for me, but I haven't heard of any trouble with them. I know they do retire frames quickly, but they are always bringing fresh style to the office, and My rep keeps us always up to date and our cataloge current, I personally love thier product.

Up where we are, the rep retired almost a year ago and we haven't heard from anyone since. I don't know if they even have a rep in our area any more. While I like Modo for the clean and modern styling (and I agree, just about all of their plastics have been lame), I've found other product to substitute.

Just in case, what have you substituted that fits that niche?

A combination of styles from the following lines: Neostyle, CV Kenneth Cole, Cottet Marius Morel, Safilo Team and/or Verge, and for women Kenmark Vera Wang, Lawrence Royal Doulton, and even some Savvy Candies'. Interesting how many different places I go to in filling that nice . . .
