    Just to correct the record......

The $50.00 rebate was to the customer, NOT the dispenser. As far as my practice, and those of a few others I am familiar with, Johnson and Johnson delivered on the "hype" by providing a product that was superior in many respects, to other products I was using. The product certainly did not fail.

I do not know this for a fact, but my best quess is that Essilor initiated the aquisition talks rather than the other way around. The reason I think it was this way was because I think Essilor recognized the Definity filled a niche in their product line and all the road work (product development, and marketing) had been done. They weren't buying a pig in a poke, they had a proved product.

To claim the reasoning had anything to do with greed is ludicrous. We operate in a capitalistic business climate driven by profits. Ethical companies are driven by their stockholders not by greed.I know both companies and I know them to be ethical.

    $$$$$ No Greed $$$$$$

The deal I was offered was fit so many pair by a certain date and get $50 back on each pair. No customer rebate that I remember. I'm sure you'er right no optical company would be driven by :hammer: excess profit. By the way I have a bridge.............................

I wonder how a stockholder who financed the development of a product, would define excess profits? The 50.00 rebate was offered by J&J in a promotion which ran from March to May 05 by preprinted voucher, and is verifiable.

    Good luck selling the bridge.

PS Any promotion I've seen by J&J began with the first pair sold.It was fair to all, no minimum amount to get in.Were they rebating to the company or the dispenser?

Easily done....I do it all the time between my Comforts and Definity, however, the differences between the two become most obvious. Without a doubt, I am more comfortable in my Definity's. I am waiting to try the Physio 360 lens which should be more of a comparisonn stay tuned!
