    Attention NY medicaid providers

As far as you all know we now need Omni 3750 terminal to get the eligibility for our Medicaid patients.
CSC wants $900 for the terminal.
I spoke with them and found out that we can use our own terminal and just download the software.
I found them on the web for mid $300 a piece.
If we can get a group purchase it might even be lower.

    Let see!

    Please responde!

    Huh?

Are you saying that Medicaid expects providers to spend $300 on software to submit their claims??? And that's on top of the pathetic reimbursement they pay???

How do you make any money off Medicaid???

This is only for the terminal to check eligibility!

You still have to pay to bill it!

And you actualy can make money on Medicaid patients.
You spend $10 +doc and get paid $60-70.
Not too bad . Some unions pay you much less and you have to pay your billing company and give them much better frames.

    Hi Lenny,

I'm sorry to hear about the Omni Device. Are you currently using an automated phone system? That is how it is done here up in CT.

Recently, CT changed it's billing software to be HIPAA compliant but we can still use the phone system for checking eligibility. The software does have the ability to do batch eligibility but we seldom use it.

I agree with you about making a profit from Medicaid. We pay our rent with it and get many referrals buy helping these people with good service and decent frame selection. We won't get rich but it's a living.;)

The phone system is still working but its a pain!
It also does not give you their medicare # and what kind of PCP they have if any.
So if we see 10-12 patients a day it becomes a big pain!

And i absolutely agree we will never become rich from Medicaid but it pays my rent and some other expenses.

Hope to seee everybody at VEE!
