    Please correct my ignorance

I have seen this on several brands of frames. Today I had one marked in the bridge 41 21 4-1 . Now I know what the 41-21 is but I don't know what the 4-1 one is, can't find anyone in the business (including the importers and suppliers and reps of the frame companies) who has a clue what the second set of numerals is.

It drives me crazy when I don't know something (which is why so many find me strange) especially something I should know in my industry. The CE designation bothered me for years until I finally found out what that was.

It could be some type of factory code. I have never seen those markings before.

Thanks for the replies, at least I don't feel much dumber than everybody else. But If anyone knows, please share, I'd really like to know.

    I'm not sure....

    Hey Chip,

I'm not sure if this is it but I know that my company and at least one other put a code next to the eye-size to indicate that it comes in either a larger or smaller size. It would have either a + or - sign or signs to indicate to the dispenser what it was available in.

Hope that helps.......but it probably doesn't:o

    info to follow

One of my Polo metal frames has similiar markings on the inside of the bridge. I have a call into Safilo and Rodenstock. The Polo Brand Manager is supposed to get back with me on Monday. WHy is it we never questioned this in the past?
