    Optical frustrations

I took off a few days & left town to celebrate my 33rd anniversary. Had a great time. I come back to learn my employee has quit. Then my first customer comes in with a very badly scratched lens asking what does it cost to remove the scratches. I offer her a new lens for $25.00 and I'll edge it & have it finished in 30 minutes. She hits the roof and says "I'll just get some of that stuff they sell on TV for scratches" I just had to laugh. Why do I keep doing this?:hammer:

And the day continues. Another pt comes in with a lens fallen out. Keeps criticizing our service & products and complaining he got soaked for $200.00 when he bought them. I pull his file and learn he bought lenses only in his old frame for $79.00, 5 years ago. I show him his file and he argues that he paid well over $200.00. Got to be the moon. I think I need the rest of the day off, anyone want to come cover for me?

I would love to help, but I'm having the same type of problems here only with frames falling apart. I thought this only happened in Wisconsin

I had someone in the other day. She bought glasses from us 6 years ago, titanium frames. She was mad because she snapped the front. She said that she expected them to last longer than that because they were titanium.

I can't stand rude people. These days if someone acts significantly rude or inappropriate I send them an "exit" letter ending our relationship. Life's too short

    Varmint,

We all have days like that. Just edit those out of your memory!

Do you have a witty response planned for when the lady comes back after she finds out the scratch remover doesn't work?

    ;)

    Varmint,

Two losers in a row and short handed? Ouch.

Just keep telling yourself "This too shall pass". Too bad you can't do what I do when I have a day like that-I make sure to stop by one of my favorite accounts and they always cheer me up-maybe one of your favorite patients will come in (and spend a big bunch of money:) ) Hang in there!

P.S. that is one of the reasons I decided to get out of dispensing-although sometimes accounts can be just as interesting ;)

When I was a kid I thought "poor Robinson Carusoe on that island all by himself."

Now I say "that lucky, lucky *******".

Hello all, well i must admit i'm new to the optiboard forums-but you can probally see that-lol but just to make some of you feel better about our lovely profession-i have been in this field for 24 years and there has yet to be a day that goes by without someone trying to pull the wool over my eyes--kinda like they think i'm new in town and they can get away with it because --well just because they think they can--well we know better dont we??????--well dont we??
Glad to be onboard with all of you.
