Crizal Alize': How Much Do You Charge?

We just used our first new Crizal. It is fairly expensive for our market but we have a few customers who like to have the best of the best. I was a little nervous about the finishing instructions/ it was a grooved rimless and it started slipping during the grooving process. Fortunately it came out just fine. Effortless cleaning. I was very impressed and can't wait to get a set for myself.

How much are you all charging for this new miracle product??

I charge $40 over Crizal as I get charged $22 over the price of Crizal. In any surfaced job (since it is not available in stock lens format, I just use it as my AR, I do not talk about regular Crizal).

You brought up a good point. Does anyone know when (if) this coating will be available as a stock lens?

I have been told mid March. For me to offer Alize instead of Crizal on a stock lens, I have to charge like $80 more than Crizal and it takes longer, so my SV patients never go for Alize. Now I do a pair of Crizal's they look like junk.

What I have done (recently), is price shpped all my surrounding competitors to see what AR products they use and what they charge. The average what about $75, but it was not Crizal Product. Their average stock poly SV with AR was $190. I charge $185 for a packaged lens. Then if Alize is brought about I add another $45 as it has to be special ordered. I carry the Crizal Airwear 1.0 for my inventory lenses and find that it much more cost effective that way and I turn a higher profit as I can turn out the order faster. I do notice that the Alize is even more superior to the standard Crizal, but truthfully, both are premier products.

So, my suggestion would be to survey your market area of what is being used and what the average prices are and plant yourself accordingly to be competitive. Also, if you are the primary dispenser for the Crizal product, great marketing advantage.
