It seems that the goal here is to fit those in developing countries; not a bad idea at all.
How low cost are we talking about? Lets face it, through almost any distibutor, you can get a pair of Cr-39 for about $2.40 a pair, if not cheaper. If it comes down to consumer retail pricing, if need be, sell the lenses for $20.00 a pair and still make a slight profit. But if you answer that the same way i did, your right -- who's gonna do that!? There are many other factors that go into retail pricing - cost of shipping, producing and other overheads. Now if we read futher into his article, it talks about a device that the consumer wears to detimine the rx, my question would be, is this designed for the home and anyone can use it? If so, are we headed for disaster with improper self-prescriptions and eye health issues? I believe there needs to be more questions answered from this guy and how will this truely help the industry we have chosen.
Don't get me wrong, I am all for technological advancements, but baby oil lenses?!
your thoughts....
