    Question I Need Wall Hangings

    Hello Optiboarders!

I'm looking for some professional looking optical posters, pictures etc for the walls in my lab. The previous manager had movie posters up and I'm looking to re-decorate. I would love any suggestions you have. (I am on a tight budget, too!)

Any of you Sola/Essilor lens reps out there? I would LOVE lens posters!! Thanks.

Ask your frame reps. contact frame mfg/distributors you'll get plenty, if they think they are about to get a new account.

One of the west coast OD schools--Berkeley?--used to have a series of posters that commemorated the school's founding--10 year, 20 years etc. Very interesting graphics and of course all optics related.

I saved and framed pages from the old Silhouette calendars(minus the calendar part). I don't carry the line anymore, so I don't know if they still produce these, but the artwork was wonderful for framing and certainly appropriate for an optical shop.

WJ, now Ciba, had some great posters for the colored contacts. My rep was more than happy to buy the frame and update it everytime they had a new poster/product.

Rep signage is the way to go.

    Antique Opthalmic Instruments

You might download some pictures of antique ophthalmic instruments and advertisements off the internet. If you print these out and frame them it will be so cheap for you. That's if this is in keeping with your tastes.

Judy, I can't believe you don't carry Silhouette frames any more; really?

Really! I try very hard to keep my frame mix different from my local competition. My customers appreciate finding eyewear that's different from what everyone else is wearing. It may not work for everyone, but it's working for me.

I have an extra Norman Rockwell copy of the little boy getting glasses that came from Santinelli if you want it.

    bright idea (I hope)

If you go online and look on stock photography sites I bet you can search for vision or eyeglasses and get a lot options. Some black and white shots of famous people wearing glasses could be fun and interesting. Not terribly expensive either.

    how's about...

building several shadow boxes, have a matte of black velour, and put old eyeglasses in them? I've known several doctors who have done this and they make great conversation pieces.

You can go to Google, click on the images tab and then search for the pics you want. It is quick and easy.
