Well, for this round of Democrat Survivor...
- Kerry seems to have won immunity this week
- Lieberman, has been told "...the tribe has spoken..."
- Dean is the annoying survivor who everyone is just waiting to vote off
- Sharpton is the crazy survivor that everyone loves (but knows he won't win)
CNN reports that 80% of Democrats will be happy if Kerry is the nominee (he has received 40% of the vote so far). Apparently, the GOP also likes the idea of a Kerry nomination, because he's the only candidate they haven't run ads against.
Zogby reports that Kerry would beat Bush (and that seems to be the #1 qualification the Dems are looking for) by 6%.
Even Peter Jennings calls the Democrat AWOL allegations "reckless."
Wow, the election season has truly begun in earnest! Just in time to take the place of football (though not as important, of course).
What will next week bring? Will Edwards form an alliance with the other members of the cast to battle the front runner Kerry (who looked better as an underdog, IMO). Will Dr. Dean finally diagnose the terminal nature of his campaign's condition? Will Sharpton run out of money (actually, he already ran out- but perhaps he can continue to spend anyway...)? Will there be a backlash of the "National Guard" vote regarding the minimilization of their service (being sarcastic here, folks)?
I know we all can't wait for this week's episode! The only survivor I liked is gone (Sen. Lieberman, I'm afraid you're just too in line with the average American to win the Democrat nomination). As predicted, the Democrats seem to be set upon sending up the most liberal candidate of the bunch...
