[bc]PSI Announces New Products at OLA Show[/bc]
PSI held a press conference in their booth on Friday, November 21st at the OLA show. Five new products were introduced. For the finishing side of the business, PSI has a new blocking pad, the Stay Tight Blocking Pad made from SecurEdge material from St. Gobain. This blocking pad resists torque forces and is constructed with layers to provide strength and thickness to keep the pad from flexing. Their acrylic adhesive system adheres tightly but is easy to remove. They are available in 24mm standard round and 18mm rectangular 1/2 eye design. Also new are PSI’s LenSaver Dots. Used to protect both the front and backside of the lens during edging and finishing. These transparent dots are tabbed for easy removal. They are available in red, green and blue in rolls of 2,000 or 500.
Demonstrations were provided on PSI’s new Single Lens Automatic Surface Tape Applicator (ASTA). This piece of machinery can tape up to 150 pair of lenses an hour freeing up the operator to help with other functions in the lab. Also, demonstrated was the incredible sheeting action of PSI’s newest lens polish, Excellens. This polish is ideal for AR coating because it leaves little or no gray haze. It’s excellent sheeting action makes cleanup easier and reduces carry-off saving labs money. The Alphamatic Lens Finishing Center was also demonstrated. This new drill is custom designed for the optical industry. It features 4-axes of computer controlled movement, including the motorized tilt table, which adjusts in .05 increments. This allows the operator to drill a perpendicular hole regardless of the thickness or curve of the lens.
