ZEISS INTRODUCES H3 HARD COATING SYSTEM
State-of-the-art automated hard coating and washing technology available now
CHESTER, Va., November 20, 2003 – Carl Zeiss Optical, Inc. today introduces the H3 hard coating system. Based on the successful H8, the H3 represents the latest generation of washing and hard coating equipment available from Zeiss.

“The turn-key H3 hard coating system improves in-house control of the production process, produces higher throughput, increases profit, speeds up turnaround time and is space efficient, enabling it to fit in most existing lab configurations,” said Andy Huthoefer, vice president, marketing, Carl Zeiss Optical, Inc. “As with all of our equipment, we will support our H3-equipped partner labs with operational training, on-site installation, start-up training and continuous emergency phone service 24 hours a day/seven days a week.”

With a batch size of three pairs, the Zeiss H3’s selective mass transfer system moves multiple baskets through the washing and hard coating stations simultaneously. Its ultrasonic washing processes guarantees optimum hard coating and AR coating adhesion. The system is capable of producing Zeiss Foundation® scratch resistant coating, which is also the hard coating component of the Zeiss Carat® coating package.

The H3 operates as a stand alone module for washing and hard coating, or as a part of the integrated Zeiss ICS7 system (includes the A7 AR coating and C7 Clean Coat modules). The machine is capable of finishing 45 pairs per hour.
