    Things Every American should do

So I was talking to my Sisters husband yesterday and he said "Every American should have, at least once, Sailed a boat, shot a gun and rode a horse". So I started thinking what I would ad to that list:
See the Rockies? Vote? Have a drug or Alcohol conviction?
Ill be interested in the responses!

    Drug or alcohol conviction???

Are you insane? Where's the good in that? I agree with seeing the Rockies and can even understand voting (although I think every American citizen should vote every election as soon as they're old enough) but to be convicted of anything as an "On my to do list for today..." is insane IMO.

I hope that part was a joke and if so then :D :D :D

    Everyone should:

    -take a yoga class
-learn to cook at least one outrageously good meal
-have a wild indiscretion (yes, that kind)
-let a little kid go crazy with mud or finger paints or something that makes a big mess
    -build a tree house
    -get arrested
    -learn a foreign language
    -re-read your favorite books often
-get a letter to the editor published
-learn the tango or hula or other non-traditional dance
-make a large (enough to hurt) donation to a favorite charity anonymously
    -visit Florence

    I think everyone should:
-visit a less industrialized country for long enough to appreciate what we have here
    -cuddle a newborn baby
    -play with a puppy
    -cry at a movie
-slow dance with someone you love
    -find a lost love
    -be your own boss
    -spend time alone
-tell your parents how much you love them
-tell your siblings how much you love them, too
-walk on the beach when it's cold and windy
-check into a hotel(alone), order room service, watch a movie and take lots of naps
    -travel somewhere on a train

    Wink No Offence please

    I add to the list:

    1)Learn geography
    2)Learn world history
    3)travel to under developed nations
4)Learn to eat healthy diet and exercise more. I find North Americans overweight.
5)Learn to say more often, thank you, sorry and excuse me please.
6)Discontinue habit of showing middle finger.

Will add when more gets into head

    Thumbs up We should

-In spring go the zoo and see the new baby's.

    -Have a snowball fight

-Take a steam locomotive train ride

-Hike to a natural hot spring (s) and enjoy

-Go fishing (it's not called catching)

-Visit the tourist sites in your state, you may be surprised of what you have been missing

-Take a vacation by yourself somewhere and relax

-Take a good hard look at yourself in a mirror and change something negative about you

-Once a year go with tools and screws in hand (on your day off) to a care facility and adjust-repair or just talk to the elderly.

-Enjoy your freedom in this country fly your flag

    Nice thread Night Train!

This should go on everyones list.......

Drive coast to coast, either way but if you have the time, take the Southern route one way , and the Northern route back home, or vice versa depending on your location. You will see the "purple mountains majesty" you will see "amber waves of grain" you will look down on "fruited plains". and you will learn what "spascious skies" are. I've only done it once but it was an unforgetable experience. If and when the Optical business allows me a retirement, that is one of the first things I'm going to do again.

Night Train, Chip, and Darris........be forwarned. I will be showing up on your respective doorsteps...........

-Listen to a senior tell you about the "good ole days".
-Pay the toll for the car behind you at the toll booth.
-Try to go a day without thinking a bad thought about anyone.
    -Talk to children.
-Eat something messy and not care about your clothes.
    -Laugh until you cry.

And, with all due respect, why would you aspire to be arrested?

    Re being arrested

it is not a matter of aspiring to be arrested, it is more a point of having experienced all matter of things. If you went thru any sort of young adulthood without being rebellious enough to run into the law, for disturbing the peace, protesting the war (ok I am showing my age--the Vietnam War-- perhaps you went staight from adolescence to middle age. Just my opinion. Everyone should have some sort of past!!!
