    Question Resolution by Optima

We have been hearing a lot about the Resolution poly lens from Optima - birefringence, atoric, aspheric, blah, blah, blah. Is this another advertising gimmick or have you been pleased with this lens? Do you sell it for the same price as a standard poly or jack up the price since it is thinner, distortion free, and aspheric?Would like to hear some honest comments about this lens.

Because Resolution isn't too costly, we sell it for the same price as our base poly. We love the tintable Resolution! It tints to a true sun lens very quickly.

    JB,

This is my lens of choice when I need a single vision poly with a 1mm ct and/or the client is an astigmat. If the cyl is > .75 the atoric back curve will improve the visual acuity off center compared to aspheric or spheric curves. High minus should be somewhat thinner also. I have not tried the lens myself (-4.50 +.75), so I do not know if birefringence is something one can see from the wearers perspective. I would guess that stress cracks at the holes and grooves will be much less of a problem. I hear that Optima is working on a semi-finished version, sans the atoric surface of course.
