GO BOSOX!
Cowboy up means something 'different' in the Republic....but I'm cheering for the Red Sox, just can't stand the Yankees....great to see them beat those A's to get to the ALCS, would love to see a Boston Chicago WS...
I'm rooting for a Cubs-Sox series... It would be interesting to see which curse (the Billy Goat or Bambino) is the strongest. My guess is that- if such a series were to occur- a giant earthquake would swallow both teams whole!
Just kidding, go BoSox- all the way!!! One thing though... what is the deal with Garciaparra and his batting gloves? He looks like Rainman at the plate!

pre hit ritual! :D :D
If Cowboy up means "Pop UP", then Nomar has it down cold!
But.... Go Sox Anyway!:cheers::finger:
The expression Cowboy Up came from country western album....or something to that effect. No one here really understands what its all about....only that its a rallying cry and everyone on the team has shaved their head....including Grady Little!
go figure!
Well, Pardner, ya got thrown from the saddle again...........
"Coimhéad fearg fhear na foighde"
Preface this by saying I have been a Red Sox fan since my first memory of the team. They were playing St Louis in the 1946 World Series. I was 6 at the time but I remember watching my dad and the neighbors painting storm windows with the radio out on the lawn with an extension cord.
I have suffered with them and celebrated with them through the impossible dream year '67, etc etc. I am not fanatical but I just love the Red Sox.
When they were ahead by 3 runs last night I went to bed. I rarely watch entire games because I was under the impression that when I would watch one, they would lose. I didn't want to breing them bad luck,so I read for a while and dropped off to sleep.
I turned on the radio at 5 AM only to find they had found a new way to lose. Bill Buckner is now sighing with relief that Grady Little left Pedro in long after he should have been jerked, because it will take some of the heat off him for the 87 fiasco.
Anyway, its only a game, and theres always next year for the Red Sox Nation. To have beaten the Yankees in the House that Ruth built would have killed the curse for good. From Cape Cod, a saddened harry j
Suffice it to say that the expression "Cowboy up" has died with the Sox pennant dreams, and will never come back.
Subject says it all.
Yankee Police Blotter
- Jeff "Assault" Nelson and Karim "Battery" Garcia will be formally charged for their attack on Red Sox employee Paul Williams
- Jason Giambi subpoenaed in steroids probe
- Don Zimmer is still under surveillance
... Who was president in 1918?"When someone who's a Boston fan makes fun of the Yankees, just ask them who was president when the Red Sox last won the World Series."
By The Way....
(Note: This is for Harry, sorry Mike)
( I did not verify this) Woodrow Wilson was president in 1918. I think that was the year of the Conference to begin the League of Nations. I think it was in Paris but maybe it was Brussels....anyway he caught cold there, came home, congress defeated the proposal, Wilson had a stroke and his wife became the "defacto" president.......It was so early in my youth the exact details blur......:D :D I do believe I have EARNED my second cuppa!

Very good Harry!
The phrase Cowboy Up! came from the movie 8 seconds.
I had too!
