CHESTER, Va., August 19, 2003 – Carl Zeiss Optical, Inc. today announces the introduction of the newest member of the Gradal family, Gradal Top 1.67 Transitions Gray. This new product features the ultimate in photochromic technology from Transitions and the successful Gradal Top progressive lens design by Carl Zeiss, all in a super hi-index material.

Gradal Top 1.67 Transitions Gray wearers benefit from all of the well-known Gradal Top features: patented Horizontal Symmetry, unique Variable Inset, fully aspheric surface adapted to the physiology of vision, smooth transitions and wide near zone for maximum reading comfort. With Gradal Top 1.67 Transitions Gray, the patient experiences maximum visual and aesthetical comfort and the lenses are slim and lightweight due to their super hi-index material.

In addition, the lenses are equipped with the best variable tint technology on the market. No matter what the weather, the lenses automatically adapt to the light conditions indoors and out and provide 100 percent UV protection. Gradal Top 1.67 Transitions Gray lenses are virtually clear indoors and darken in less than ninety seconds to a full sunglass tint with 70 percent absorption. They are also suitable for night driving.
