[bc]JOHNSON & JOHNSON VISION CARE’S BREAKTHROUGH DEFINITY™ PROGRESSIVE LENSES COMING TO VISION EXPO WEST[/bc]
ROANOKE, Va. (July 29, 2003) – Vision Expo West visitors are invited to stop by booth #CL5083 to discover how new DEFINITY™ Lenses from The Spectacle Lens Group of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., are changing the way presbyopes see the world. While at the booth, eye care professionals can learn about the product features and benefits, view the new DEFINITY™ Lenses television commercial and register for a prize drawing.

DEFINITY™ Lenses are a progressive lens now available to eye care professionals across the United States. The breakthrough lens offers the least amount of unwanted astigmatism and the widest intermediate zone of any progressive lens on the market.†

Representatives from The Spectacle Lens Group will be debuting DEFINITY™ Lenses in the booth for Vistakon, also a division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., located in the contact lens area on the trade show floor.

Unique Technology That Enables Wider, Sharper Vision

DEFINITY™ Lenses use a patented DUAL ADD™ technology that reduces unwanted astigmatism, the condition that causes patients to experience visual swim. Unwanted astigmatism also contributes to adaptation problems common among new progressive lens wearers.

In addition to the near, intermediate and distance zones offered by past progressive technology, DEFINITY™ Lenses offer a unique FOURTH ZONE™ in larger frames.µ Located beneath the “near zone” of DEFINITY™ Lenses, the FOURTH ZONE™ reduces the near add power to help minimize distortion and flatten the field of vision. This provides patients with clearer vision when looking down and may help when walking down steps or navigating uneven terrain.

Manufacturing & Availability

At its state-of-the-art manufacturing laboratory in Roanoke, Va., The Spectacle Lens Group uses a proprietary manufacturing process that allows custom fabrication of the unique DUAL ADD™ design. DEFINITY™ Lenses are available in polycarbonate, CR-39®, High Index 1.60 lens material and Transitions® Lenses 1.50 Gray across a broad range of prescriptions.

Additionally, all DEFINITY™ Lenses have Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.’s exclusive GEMCOAT™ Multicoating System. The GEMCOAT™ system uses a nine layer anti-reflective coating per lens side, reducing reflection and enhancing scratch resistance.
