    -27.00 Biconcave frame selection

I'm wondering if anyone can direct me towards a good frame for a -27.00 patient, single vision lenses. I currently have a zyl 43-17 with temples that protrude out to make it fit more like a 48 eye, but I can go a little smaller on the frame size.

The ideal frame I'm looking for would be a zyl 41-17 with wide fitting temples, and not a kids frame.

Ps all the labs tell my I cant get anything thinner then a 1.67, is this true? I need it on a -9.00 front BC.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Big Smile zeiss lantal

HI.Why not use a zeiss lantal 1.9 with super e.t.? It`s final weight will be as light as plastic, but of course keep the frame as smalll as possible.

The female wearing the glasses is a low vision patient pinhole @ 20/100 od/os. She is 34 with the mentality of a 10-12 year old.

The cosmetics are not worth the risk.

I was hoping a lab could do it in a 1.74 but it seems no one has the material?

It's not zyl but I've been using the Polo 445. Stainless steel in four colors with spring hinges. Lens sizes are a roundish 41x33 and 39x31, Dbl is 22 which allows plenty of room for the pads, which are connected to a very adjustable and compliant pad arm. Lens clearance at the folded temple is 13mm. I don't believe you can get 1.74 in the US. I also don't believe we can get 1.9 over -20.00 diopters with a plano base. Maybe you could bond two of these together. A myodisk might also be considered.

    Question

Why not just go for a standard lentic with a 30 ish bowl ?
Would look a darn sight better than bi-concave and also be a lot better optically. You could get a 1.9index glass in that power but from what you say about the patient not recommended.

It's also called a myodisk. Bowl size or optical zone is, I believe 32mm. There may still be a "myofade" available where the lens is blended into the carrier making the circle much less noticable from a cosmetic viewpoint, but not well tolerated from the wearers perspective, at least by the folks I've fit.
