AUTO SWEEPSTAKES AT AOA CONGRESS IN SAN DIEGO[/bc]
(TORRANCE, CA — July, 2003) Chris Carpenter, OD, of Chandler, AR, said he was “mostly just shocked” when he learned that he held the winning ticket for a new 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder from Younger Optics at the 106th American Optometric Association AOA) Congress in San Diego.

“We’re very pleased to make this award to Dr. Carpenter, who just went into practice three years ago,” said Robert Lee, Manager of Business Development and Sales for Younger Optics. “ Every professional and student attending the Congress were provided sweepstakes tickets to enter the drawing for this car. It’s our way of thanking members of the optometry profession for their care and dedication in ensuring that patients have the best options in eye care.”

To participate in the drawing, each ticket holder entered a life sized glare demonstrator. Once inside, they looked through NuPolar® polarized lenses to eliminate the glare in the demonstrator to see if their ticket matched the background scene in the demonstrator.

“Younger Optics thought this would be a memorable way for professionals and students to continue to learn of the many opportunities that are provided with polarized lenses; presentation pointers, bottom line benefits, and support materials”, Lee said.

“I’m not a gambler,” said Dr. Carpenter. “But there are always drawings and give-aways going on. Sometimes, I just get lucky. But this came out of the blue! What are the odds of this happening?”

Dr. Carpenter’s practice, Chandler Eyecare, has existed for 30 years, although Dr. Chandler has been a partner only since 2000. The Vista and Bristow Laboratories in Arizona serve the practice.

Located 20 minutes south of Phoenix, Chandler’s heat and southwestern sun make polarized sunwear, such as Younger Optic’s NuPolar® lenses, popular items to sell. Chandler is a rapidly growing community, with a large number of Intel engineers living in the area, Dr. Carpenter noted. Chandler Eyecare serves patients of all ages — from children to retirees, although young adults are the largest single age group the practice serves.

“We see ourselves as treating the whole family,” said Dr. Carpenter.

Younger Optics will provide another opportunity to win a new vehicle at the 107th annual AOA Congress in Orlando in 2004, Lee added.
