I've heard of some doctors say Pure&Clean lid prep drops (hypochlorous acid) are safe for the ocular surface and they have recommended it for topical use for cases of conjunctivitis, dry eye, etc. Any thoughts on topical use of this as opposed to external lid use? Obviously the labels of these products will only say to use on the lids and not in the eye. I've had several doctors tell me personally they have put in in the eye.

It's been done. It's probably underutilized.

I'm not sure the duration of effect on a tear film, though. It would probably be neutralized before any significant antiseptic effect.

It's great for external surfaces, though.

Our OD often recommends and sells hypochlorous acid spray for eyelid hygiene. Also as a treatment option for Demodex related dry eye symptoms, or after a specific Blepharitis treatment such as Blephex, or Xdemvy.
