CHESTER, Va., June 23, 2003 – Carl Zeiss Optical, Inc. today announces that its Cool Blue coating is now approved for use with clear, tinted and photochromic (Transitions® only) CR 39 plastic lenses when a Super ET® anti-reflective coating is applied on the lens' backside. Previously, Cool Blue had been introduced for use with dark sunglass lenses (85% absorption) only. Cool Blue lenses are considered to be highly fashionable. Anyone looking at the wearer will see the reflections of the cool blue mirror coating.
"Our Cool Blue coating has been popular for quite sometime with an increasing demand for the coating to be used on other lenses than just sunglasses," said Andy Huthoefer, vice president, marketing, Carl Zeiss Optical, Inc. "We're happy to have the approvals necessary to meet those demands."
