    I'm divorcing Hilco.

They have been a disaster recently and they levy ridiculous shipping charges.

Where else can I find good optical supplies?

It seems every time I need something they don't have it. I've been looking around elsewhere as well.

Hilco is a higher cost option than the other optical suppliers I've used. Other options include Western Optical. Amcon, Stormin' Normin.

The one thing that I think is worth the extra cost from Hilco is the Ergo Pro hand tools. Everything else from screws, nose pads, etc is identical or nearly identical for cheaper everywhere else.

I've ordered from all the above.

Amazon. Especially for small things like screws. Hilco or amazon that stuff is all coming from China anyway.

Just don't order red cleaning cloths from Dynamic. The red tint wore off on $1000 worth of frames and lenses I had to replace for my patients. Dynamic would not admit it.

I don't deal with Hilco on a regular basis anymore but I used to in the past and they were ok. In recent years I only use them once in a blue moon and the quality of service, issues with back orders, issues with back orders on things that are supposed to be in stock, accidental deletion of our account and credit card information on more than one occasion....I could go on. I am intrigued that the issues seemed to coincide with Blue Points involvement with the company. Perhaps it has nothing to do with the issues but perhaps we will see similar things happen with Europa. I don't deal with Europa a lot but presently they are freaking easy to work with. Time will tell.

....issues with "back orders"...things that are "supposed to be in stock."
    do you hear yourself?
Personally I myself have never had a company come ask me what is "supposed to be in stock."

I hope you do not take this to personally and if you do I apologize ahead of time.

When a CSR tells you that something is in stock and you have to call back a couple weeks later to find out that what you have ordered was not in stock at the time the order was placed is a pretty big issue. Perhaps you misinterpreted what I was trying to convey or maybe you work at Hilco?

I did not know that Blue Point bought **COUGH COUGH*, I mean "Partnered" with Hilco.

I sure hope that Europa doesn't fall victim to the same demise!

Reach out to Karen Collins Ressler at the Optical Source Unlimited. They do cases, cloths, and optical supplies/tools.

I have been very pleased with their service, prices, and the feeling that they actually give a fecal pile about me!

I haven't used them in a long time, but I just took a look at some of their tools. I may have to start using them again just because they have a sense of humor!

Blue Point is a private equity firm that basically controls Hilco and now Europa eyewear

Dynamic and Optisource are pretty good. Hilco is a last resort for me because it's just way more expensive.
