POSITION: FINISHING SUPERVISOR
POSITION PURPOSE: The Finishing Supervisor is responsible for directing the efforts of employees in meeting production quotas according to quality control standards in the finishing operations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in and contributes to production meetings.
- Conducts departmental meetings weekly and communicates in writing and verbally with all shifts daily.
- Participates in the hiring of new employees.
- Orients and trains new employees.
- Maintains performance records on all employees; communicates performance levels to each employee routinely; and coaches employees on methods and techniques for improving performance.
- Evaluates the performance of employees and recommends pay changes.
- Disciplines employees according to company policy as needed.
- Schedules employees’ work time and vacation time.
- Prepares the work area and equipment prior to the shift.
- Performs light maintenance on equipment as time allows.
- Requests maintenance on equipment that needs additional repair or maintenance.
- Analyzes and recommends the purchase of new equipment as needed.
- Requisitions departmental supplies as needed.
- Checks, adjusts and assures the accuracy of all machinery and chemicals.
- Teaches, supports, and assures that quality and quantity standards established by the company are maintained.
- Plans work flow and monitors production records.
- Maintains a familiarity with and ability to perform all jobs in his/her area and does so as necessary.
- Reviews breakage reports daily and follows up on breakage problems as needed.
- Assures that all safety standards are maintained in the work area.
- Fills in for other supervisors as directed.
- Reviews and completes payroll records every payroll period.
- Assists employees with special problems.
- Performs related work as required.
- Ability to effectively work as a supportive team member.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Utilize and facilitate the Lean Six Sigma process to find new and better ways to improve the quality and reduce breakage and remakes.
- Manage Departments budget in labor and consumables.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years of production management experience in a fast-paced, labor intensive environment.
- Prior experience in a wholesale optical environment a plus.
- Degree in Management or Technology preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Effective in verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
