Best marker for dotting up lenses

Back to basics here...what is the best marker you've found for fitting lenses - we've used multiple brands of dry erase and none are very good. Got some Hoya freebies that work great for the first few days and then are useless...the Staedtler permanent special work great if there is no AR (or a bad non-slick AR). Any suggestions?

Staedtler works on all of our lenses and is the preferred marker for our super hydro AR.

Staedtler works great for verifying lenses, but when dotting up a patient the point is so fine that I often can't even see it against a good AR if I am sitting at a dispensing table a few feet from the patient....is there a wider-tip version? I only have "permanent special F"

Works just as well for dotting up fitting hts, even though it fine. Another tool to use is Vigor's SH Guage. This works very well on suns. Instead of balancing a pen light and a marker, remove the lenses, and verify ht on the guage.

We use the "AR Marking Pen" from Dynamic Labs. Works great on AR and non-AR lenses, and lasts quite a while. It takes alcohol to remove, but we use their "Eliminator" pen to quickly remove our marks if need be (it also works well for removing PAL markings from the lab). And ditto on the SH gauge, it is much more reliable on suns than trying to use a light and marker.

I've had good success also with Dynamic's white out pen *ahem* I mean "AR Marking Pen" but I useually just use Staedtler or VisaVis markers (which we use for tray tags.) Seg Gauges are great on suns yes. Or for those with shaky hands.

Am I the only one who feels like Staedtler pens run out much faster than they used to 10 years ago?

I use Staedtler permanent special F for dotting up lens marking and Expo Vis-a-vis for seg heights. The pen I can't live without is a white chalk marker for marking polarized or mirrored lenses.
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?

Everything runs out faster than 10 years ago. I am always busy in the kitchen and even the Bovril has been heavily thinned down and the bottle ins finished 3 times faster.

I've tried the pupil marker and it's sitting in a drawer for when I have to mark up sun lenses (and really dark eyes) where the red staedler special f doesn't show up well enough. It's a wide marker (a little wider than a Sharpie fine point), so I sometimes have to guess whether I want the top, middle, or bottom of the dot. It's a white marker, which is why it's great for sunglasses. But, it sometimes beads up on any coating with an oleophobic layer. Like pretty much everyone else I use the Staedler special F, though I only order the red markers, because I can see it better.
