Confused Could someone help me identify this lens?

Do you know what this is? I know it is by a company called Copeland Extralens, Inc., which is now out of business. They had a patent on something called a 'Coloreader'Click image for larger version.

I think that you nailed it Uncle Fester.

I do recall the introduction of IOL's and the initial resistance to their use by both the MD's and the Opticians of the day. We Opticians took it in the wallet when post cataract customers started coming in for their glasses with an Rx of -0.75 instead of +13.00's. We also took a big hit with the advent of the soft contact lens but at least there were no insurers to deal with.

    What's next?

If it is, that's one hell of a big IOL!

I believe the photos are of a sales piece, you know, like a Cinzano ashtray.

I hoped that Cinzano was an Italian lensmaker that produced ashtrays for opticians so that they could promote their brand in the Mad Men era. Alas, it was to promote sparkling wine.

You all have way too much spare time! And speaking of spare time, Cinzano is not just about the bubbly....aperitifs, as well. Plus, as a part of the Campari group, other liquors, hard and soft.

Makes sense to give out ashtrays, though...cigars and bubbly.
