Weird persistent glare in patient's lens

    Hi all,

I work at Mykita, and as you know, our lenses are grooved and a lot of the lens is exposed. I had a patient come in complaining about diffraction when she drives at night. Her lenses were polished and so we unpolished them, but it didn't help. I put her glasses on and held my cellphone's flashlight to the side of my face. I notice that there is a distinct purple-ish dot that stays pretty much in one place and is only in one lens.

    Thoughts?

My first thought would be to remake that lens to see if it is just a defect. If it shows up again, then start looking at possible AR, material, or frame change.

Personally, I recommend BluTech for night driving for the most light sensitive people.

This one popped into my head: http://www.optiboard.com/forums/showthread.php/65375

Got any pictures, Jaketull? Does it look anything like this spot on Quince's old lens?

    Good thinking!

I actually went to the link that Fester posted that I had found so helpful.

Check out Harry's suggestions- post #7

The solution for my patient was adding AR (which he had not previously worn) and upping the base curve.

Yeah, Uncle Fester's shiny head was on my brain as soon as I saw this thread...spent a couple of hours trying to dig through his threads when it turned out to be one of yours that he posted that link! (He has a much better memory for this stuff, or at least he makes it look easier....)

If it makes you feel any better- I had to reread my whole thread to even remember what had happened and how it got fixed! My memory sure is lacking...

How did that one turn out? Was the problem resolved with a simple redo with no parameter changes? Or did you have to do something different? (Thought there was a slim chance it might be relevant since Jake referred to his blemish as a "dot.")
