    Extended Reader

    Hi guys,

I am confused I have a client with a script of Plano ADD +1.00 Optometrist has asked for 0.75 shift

This would only leave +0.25 ADD
are there any lenses with +0.25?
    How can this work?

Only thing I can think of is an office type lens design, where you enter that RX and it will compute it to a desired power profile. Still those usually have around .6 on the top and a .4 add profile. Someone else will hopefully have a better answer.

The Eyezen +1 is a 0.40 diopter power boost. That's the lowest option I know of. Accomida starts at 0.50 and Sync at 0.55
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?

This would seem to be a case for either +1.00 SV, +.75 SV, or an Degressive type office lens with a +1.00 add. If the plano +1.00 is their full Rx and the Dr didn't fudge anything, just need to talk to the patient to find out what they expect to get out of the lenses and what tasks they will be preforming.

I think what you will have is the reading portion at the bottom as a +1.00 (add) and the lens will shift/degress by +0.75, meaning the top portion of the lens (intermediate) will have +0.25 power.
Usually ordered as a SV reader with a degression/shift of +0.75.
It’s so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don’t say it.
