    Repair technician

Ok, so I really miss lab work. Specifically working on equipment. I've thought about becoming a technician for years, and I think I may do it. What companies have classes where you can become certified to repair lab and ophthalmic equipment? I would also love y'all to give me your opinion on the best company if possible. AIT? Briot? Santinelli? I'm ready for a change, and want to pursue my true passion 😊

Redhot Jumper Anybody that is eager to learn, ...........................

Anybody that is eager to learn, give excellent service and please his customers, and is accepted by them, is a future danger to his present employer.

And............the day he quits to go out on his owns he knows that he already has a base of customers that will go with him or follow him.

The service business relies on these maxims
Those who say don't know. Those who know don't say
    Knowledge shared is power lost.
Anyone who is willing to help you out wants to know who let you in.
I work on ophthalmic instruments, not edgers. Nearly everything I learned is intuitive.
I did spend one week at the old AIT training school.
What I learned in the shop is not what you see in the field.
The phrase "factory trained mechanics" is B. S.
If you want to learn how to build something, go to the factory
If you want to learn how and why it breaks and how to fix it go into the field.
I have seen field failures that the factory claimed to be impossible.
No one taught me how to repair Lensometers, Vertometers, chairs and stands, etc.
I do admit I learned much about Zeiss slit lamps from an absolute genius who worked for Carl Zeiss.
I had to make my own tools to make some of the adjustments on the instrument.
And one more thing. The more you learn, the more you discover you do not know.
