I'm hoping someone out there has a solution on this one for me... In the past ten years I've made a couple specially modified glasses for serious pool, snooker, billiards players. Unfortunately now I have a request for another pair, and the frame I had been using is long since discontinued. Does anyone out there have a frame they like to use for this application? I'm all ears....

Do you need one that sits on the face like shooting glasses?

    Confused

We do one that's hinged at the temple, so you can put it on, and tip it so it's at a 90 degree angle from the face. (I couldn't think how to explain that then!)

    Redhot Jumper

I was thinking maybe a Decot HY & Wide might work, but not sure if the mounting wire is along the top and if it would be seen? The hinged type I've ordered from Franel before, but to me they seemed very flimsy for the cost. I also had one person tell me they got a pair and they made the balls not look round anymore because of the angle. The best pair I made was with an old semi-rimless cataract lens frame that was rimless on top. I made the B dimension extremely tall and they worked great. But with the advent of IOL's these types of frames became obselete, and thus discontinued.

Concidered some sort of prism had progresive bifocal to allow for most of the shots being made in a leaning postion. Just a screwey thought, havn't a clue, really.

One of the most successful strategies I've used here is to get the stiffest pair of readers you can find with a wide or double nose bridge and a nylon top wire. Cut the lenses huge vertically to provide the necessary OC (measuring AT a pool table works extremely well), and correct for pantoscopic tilt (negative here, usually). Then groove the lens and tie it in. They have to be handled carefully, but they work extremely well.
