    Training video on selling.

    does anyone know of or done a training video for staff on the process of picking out glasses, and quoting the price?

    I'm looking for something to show new employees where they can model the experience.

    -"Wow, those look great on you!"
    -"With your insurance, that will be $x dollars"
    -ect.

    I think another video could be on dispensing. Thanks!

    YouTube has a ton of videos. Wade through these for examples;

    yes, I see lots of videos on how to measure and dispense. I am looking for an acted out scene, optician and patient. How are they greeted? How are the frames presented? lens options?

    The only such videos I've seen with such detail on retail approach were corporately produced, kjreha. They regard the nuances as 'secret sauce' and don't let these pantomimes get distributed outside of their own training audience.

    If there's a 'generic,' brand-free trainer on retail engagement specific to opticals, I haven't heard of it. Not sure if there's a corporate one that's slipped its way into public either. If it's any consolation, you'd probably want to individualize those nuances yourself if you ever did find one. Even when I worked and trained in a corporate optical where such videos were available, there really isn't any substitute for repetitive in-person role play and a period of side-by-side training for newbies as they assist their first several patients, and close nearby supervision for a very long time after that.

    If your search ultimately comes up dry, may I humbly suggest tapping an experienced optician/optical manager for his/her outline of such a curriculum if you're too pressed for time to develop it all on your own? Or if you find that idea wanting, there's always industry consultation firms like Williams Consulting Group or Acquios Advisers. Not sure if they have A/V training materials, but it might be worth a couple calls to ask. As for the other 'optician training' outlets, I couldn't speak to their ability to (or quality of) help.

    Good luck! I'll keep my fingers crossed you find what you're looking for.
