I'm opening in 2-3 months a new optical shop in my town.. I have a lot of stuff to get set up and was wondering if anyone could tell me of any good frame company's to call and get a rep ..

Any ideas will be great.. i'm still in the deciding what lines to carry stage and not sure where to start..

Dolabany and Europa are nice if you're looking for smaller companies that only sell to brick and mortars.

        NW77th!

American made cool frames that have european boutique quality who go out of their way to work with the american independent opticals.

Shaun, that's a big, big, BIG question. What's your target clientele like? Are you going to take any insurance plans? Do you have any experience in dispensary management?

In my experience, the fewer vendors you have to work with the better. For my money, Safilo USA provides just about every non-value price point and aesthetic you could ever need. I could literally stock an entire dispensary with nothing but Safilo product if I had to pick just one manufacturer. There are also lines I adore from DeRigo REM and Clearvision, and I couldn't live without Silhouettes.

Remember that your relationship with your rep is more valuable than their frames. I've ditched many reps for being unattentive or if their business practices seemed in any way off to me. Instead, I'm legitimately friends with nearly all of my frame reps, and I know they will go out of their way when I have a real need. We view our business relationship as a partnership, not as I-buy-you-sell, and we're all the better for it.
I'm Andrew Hamm and I approve this message.

Thanks guys for all the info and help.. I'm the manager of the vision Center and currently work for a large retail chain.. The world of corporate retail has lost its appeal for me.. It have worked with them for 15 years... I and my Dr I work with are partnering up to start our own shop. We are mainly going to be marketing to average every day people.. The main insurances are going to be Medicaid VSP, Davis, & Eyemed.. In all my years of experience getting frames are not something I have not had a lot of experience with.. I have talked with several of the companies listed and have a lot better understanding of how the process work's.. Thanks
