    Prescription Eyeglasses for Bicycle riding.

Any tip on needs for a presbyopic patient?
I has seen that this people has to keep the head in a fixed position for many hours. I also suppose that they use the upper part of the lens most of the time.
Do not know but what about placing a prism with same power both eyes?

Most of my cycling patients just go with DVO. Depends on their needs... I have some that want a progressive so they can read their digital maps, but for the most part, they prefer distance only and bring their progressives or readers with them for when they stop.

Would not be a bad thing to make sure the OCs are a little high. Not too crazy.

If anisometrope, that would be an issue.

Yoke prism would just make them fall off their bicycle.

If presbyope, a teensy PAL add wouldn't be a bad thing (or better yet a seg), but I'd not bust out anything higher than +1.25. That could take some custom fitting, depending on how "data-driven" the biker was.

You might want to consider Eyezen, Zeiss Digital Device or the IOT Accomoda. These are all SV vision lenses with an add bump at the bottom of the lens.

There are many prescription sunglasses options, but SportRx does more than offering a huge range—more than 200—of cycling-specific options. It also has outstanding customer support to help you find the best possible glasses.

DrK is bang on--angling the OC makes sense, just keep your eye on the ball for how you're displacing any vertical imbalance.

Having said that: I've heard Shamir Golf works quite well for the cyclists (without any need for creative OC placement.)

"Bicycle" riding? Road? Mountain? X-Country? Tour? Tandem? Cruiser? Pro? Casual? Race? Training? Does the rider use a computer? Do they ride during the day? Night? Both? What are they using now? Any reason contacts aren't on the table as well? How strong is the correction? What is their full prescribed add? Have they tried other lens options in the past without success?

Need more info to fit this one well...

(The patients who bring up cycling vision during their purchase do tend to be speedy angles.)

We've seen all types here, which is why I asked. The same can be said for skiers, and snowboarders. The way they use their eyes can vary enough to be a potential issue when designing glasses. I even had a patient once say they were a "biker", and when pressed, came to find out they (only very occasionally) rode a recumbent (backward reclining) exercise bike in their basement, while watching a big screen TV set up in front.

Then of course, there's the other type of "biker"...though usually the abundance of leather and faint, lingering smell of motor oil and cigarettes gives away their transportation mode of choice. Rarely do you see a Tour de France racers dressed in the same. Sometimes though... hehehe :)
