    Transition lenses with Prevencia coatings

I have a patient who wants to protect her kids eyes from blue light so I recommended the prevencia coatings on top of the Transition VII lenses she was ordering. She then proceeded to go home, go online, call her dr's office and then call me confused because the transitions website says they block blue light, and the Dr's office said both the transitions and the prevencia do the same thing. My understanding is that transitions blocks more blue light when activated (ie dark) than light and doesn't cover fully when clear so there is still benefits to having the prevencia.

Thoughts? What can I tell this patient so that she feels confident in her purchase, or did I make a mistake?

I believe this is more in regards to clear filters, but I would consider Transitions to be in that realm. The combination of material and coating WILL make a difference but remember, we don't need to be shooting for 100% coverage because less than that is actually reaching the eye. Also, the more coverage there is, the more color distortion will be prevalent.
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?

Transition lens with Prevencia coating is a no-glare lens that blocks out specific wavelengths of blue light from reaching the person's ocular tissue. It is a is proven method for deflecting harmful blue-violet light by 20%. This lens is completely clear, unlike other competitive yellow blue-blocking lenses which indicate that the lens is actively blocking harmful blue-violet light! This is a great choice for those who do not want a “socially awkward” yellow lens.
