I am paying $1.56/Gallon US (0.97 British Pound/1.201 British Gallons) for gasoline at my regular gas station.

Home heating oil is another matter all together. Unless you locked in a price with your supplier, folks around here are paying over $1.00/Gallon US (0.62 British Pound/1.201 British Gallons) for oil.
The following website will let you find US and Canadian gas and oil prices by using various searches including postal code:

It is by universal misunderstanding that all agree. For if, by ill luck, people understood each other, they would never agree.

Isn't it lovely being a student. Dont have to worry about petrol prices because i walk everywhere.

Incidentally, i look forward to the projected chaos 12 hours from now with the introduction of congestion charging in london.

I will be watching from a safe distance - from the the pavement!!!

Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer.....actually, that costs more than beer, too.

Though Busch Lite is pretty close to water........

NOW since we have changed gears towards something far more important (beer, ale, brewskie's etc., etc.) Wonder if anyone else happend to get a home brew kit?
Got one for Christmas one year from an OD friend who got it through QVC.. this thing is a wonder to behold... depending on the mood go from a nice wheat to a dark bach and back again..
For the amount of money and what it costs now for an import this was well worth the price.. PLUS it gave everyone a chance to actually come to the house, light up a good cigar and try your hand at becoming a brew master..
Anyone that enjoys a nice beer one of these kits are well worth the investment..
The next thing is I have a guy in town who made a motorcycle that runs on peanut oil :) ... I would even be willing to get another Harley if I could get it to run on "beer"
Sorry about that, but politics is politics, gas is gas but BEER.. yikes that is a subject unto its own...
BTW my grandfather actually had a steel up in W.Va. and that stuff could strip paint off a wall from 20 steps away.. and I remember growing up we had apple wine and blackberry wine...
The world would be a lot better place if we could all set around twist the top on one of his corn quarts and the last person standing is the winner :)

I had to fill my truck up yesterday and got the ... ouch. I have a diesel which is about 25% more efficient than gas but still pinches your wallet at $1.95 a gallon.

Predictions are that we will see over $2.00 / gallon by summer. I remember during the Gulf War when gas hit $1.50 / gallon. The psychology of economics involved makes any price decrease look like a bargain after paying a premium price for a while.

In defense of oil companies (a posture not likely to make one many friends these days)...

According to NPR, gas prices today are- when adjusted for inflation- the same as they were in 1950. It seems the laws of supply and demand work just fine regarding oil prices. Even though demand for petrol products has definitely increased over the past 50 years, the number and size of petrol producing sources has also increased- which creates a competitive situation that maintains (relatively) low prices to the consumer.

That said, I paid $1.60/gallon last evening to pump 28 gallons into my Ford Expedition. Soon they'll have to install a loan officer at the gas station!
    ;)

Interesting time capsule. So, in two and a half years (during which time we have invaded and occupied the world's second-largest reported store of oil reserves), either the price of gas has doubled or the dollar is worth half as much. Or a combination of the two. So that's, uh, bad.

British beer is the best, discuss
Being a great lover of ales, I would argue that Irish beer is best (and I don't just mean Guinness), but English barmen pour a mean pint of just about anything. :)
