    Rodendstock Lenses

Has anyone heard of or tried in their practice Rodenstock lenses. I need some feedback. We use Zeiss and Varililux but the office is trying to cut back on lab costs and they are less but want to know if quality is equivalent to what we use now. Quality is important to us and giving our clients the best. HELP!

Rodenstock is one of the oldest optical companies in the world.

They have been around forever and produce top quality products.

If the price is right you can not get any better than them.

A company named EGMA opened a lab in Dallas about a year ago, specializing in Rodenstock lenses. However they abruptly closed their doors about 2 weeks ago. They indicated themselves as the largest distributor of Rodenstock product in the world. They did little promoting locally, so I'm not surprised they bailed. Not aware of national awareness of this lab.

DALLAS—Egma LLC, a lens company and wholesale laboratory located here, announced Wednesday that it is ceasing its U.S. operations.
Formed by Egma Group Dubai in 2015 as a regional startup and headed by Poya Eghterafi, the company was licensed to produce Rodenstock branded lenses as part of its lenses portfolio, which included products from Shaw Vision and Ocuco, as well as its own Eyeonx line.

    One year ago

According to circles, the world's largest spectacle glass manufacturer Essilor is interested in the German competitor Rodenstock. In addition to the French company listed in the EuroStoxx 50, the Japanese lens manufacturer Hoya also considered a bid for the company from Munich, the news agency Bloomberg reported on Monday referring to persons familiar with the matter.

Talks with consultants therefore indicated that at least 500 million euros could be offered to Rodenstock. Essilor and Hoya did not want to comment on the speculation
The financial investor Bridgepoint, who bought the business in 2006 from the investment company Permira, had the say at Rodenstock. Bridgepoint is said to be evaluating various strategic options for the Munich bank with Goldman Sachs' investment bankers. There is no formal sales process yet. Essilor is currently on shopping and has put aside a billion euros for it. Even financial investors should be interested, albeit timidly.

With a website of 4,500 employees, the turnover of Rodenstock rose last year by 2 percent to 408 million euros. Before interest, taxes and depreciation, the profit amounted to 82 million euros - 9 percent more than a year before. Rodenstock had to face a serious crisis in 2010, but since then the company has been growing again.

You will not be disappointed with the quality. Plus they are difficult designs to switch from so that is good for you if you want differentiation. I also find them a good company to do business with, although we don't do too much.

Consider private label products. Same quality as the branded products at a fraction of the price.
