POSITION PURPOSE:

As a member of the Business Solutions team within the Key Accounts Strategies & Solutions (KASS) department, the Regional Optical Manager will be responsible for the management of key account customer retail locations with a national geographic presence. Store management responsibilities include development of store policies and procedures, staff training development and execution, and management of optical product lines in a retail setting to support key account customers across multiple channels. The Regional Optical Manager understands and leverages customer needs, industry trends, and consumer preferences to create winning strategies for merchandising, product positioning, and pricing within an optical retail setting. The Optical Merchandising Manager defines and translates strategies into initiatives that will result in accelerated sales growth at assigned retail locations. The Regional Optical Manager will work closely with key accounts, third party vendors, and cross-functional Essilor teams to develop and deliver best in class retail store rollout and on-going management. The Regional Optical Manager will also work closely with the National Account Manager, Sr Manager Business Solutions, and Frame Assortment Manager to ensure alignment between the overall account strategy, optical center strategy, overall business solution, and frame merchandising and operational processes in order to ensure successful launch and support of key account retail locations, create supply chain efficiencies, increase store productivity, and enhance the patient experience. The successful candidate is an experienced multi-location optical retail store manager, comfortable working with an account team to develop and implement retail store strategies with minimal oversight.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Creates policies, procedures, and training in support of key account customer retail locations and store rollouts
• Develops best practices and policies for the effective acquisition, product positioning, and pricing of optical products for subsequent retail sale through key account dispensaries or retail facilities.
• Manages sourcing of optical products to support key account programs in coordination with the National Account Manager, internal business units, and third party suppliers.
• Aligns merchandising strategy to seasonal and overarching plans.
• Analyzes retail trends, competitive lines, category pricing, and research data to ensure a best in class product assortment is built and maintained for key account customers.
• Provides guidance on frame board management, in-store signage, and marketing materials in alignment with overall staff training and patient flows to drive value for key account customers.
• Identifies opportunities and manages implementation of new product introductions and discontinuations
• Delivers sales & achieves margin goals on assigned products & projects.
• Leads cross-functional teams including members from key accounts, marketing, supply chain, lab operations, and finance in the development of new products and product lines.
• Leads development of product marketing collateral in close coordination with Essilor marketing and key account customers.
• Monitors the profitability of the product lines to include turn rates, obsolescence management, and seasonal category refreshes.
• Maintains appropriate reporting to measure effectiveness of merchandising programs.
• Collaborates with Frame Assortment Manager and Distribution Center staff to ensure effective inventory management including forecasting and obsolescence.
• Monitoring operational and financial metrics at assigned retail locations and developing & implementing both on-site and remote performance improvement plans at locations not meeting expectations
• Meeting and exceeding the KPI goals and objectives established for frame programs with key accounts.
• Other duties as directed by Manager.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor degree required
• 7+ years experience in merchandising and retail store management within the optical industry
• Experience managing the merchandising strategy within an optical retail or similar setting including experience with frame sourcing, merchandising, product positioning, and pricing
• Experience with or strong understanding of managing an optical retail store is desirable
• Experience working closely with customers to identify needs and deliver the desired results to exceed customer expectations
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, management, co-workers and employees
• Strong project management experience supporting large scale operations and projects
• Strong decision making and analytical skills
• Ability to manage the timely delivery of multiple projects in parallel
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• PC Proficiency required – with advanced skills in Business Objects reporting, MS Excel, and PowerPoint
• Travel required up to 50-75% to support customers
• Ability to deal with a fast-paced dynamic environment
• Willing to work overtime when necessary
